RYA South and South West Zone Championships, WPNSA, 26 & 27 September 2015

Entry will open 1 August and close on the 20th September

As you may be aware, the RYA Racing Zones have been realigned to bring about more consistency amongst RYA programmes. The effect of this has been that the clubs in the Poole area are now classed as the South West Zone. Due to the boundary changes, it has been proposed for this year only that we combine the South and South West Zone Championships. This will help with Zone Squad selection for effected Poole sailors enabling them to apply for either the South or South West Zones.

This means that the combined South and South West Zone Championships will be held at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for all classes on the 26 & 27 September 2015. Further details will be announced in due course.

Classes to be sailed are: Optimist, Topper, Windsurfers, Feva, 2.4 and Regatta Fleet for Optimists, Teras and Toppers.

Regatta Fleet Racing

The regatta fleet racing at the South and South West Zone Championships is open to less experienced club sailors in Optimists, Teras and Toppers who are learning how to race. The racing will be organised by local coaches and run on an informal basis, starting at around the same time as the main fleets, on both days. The coaches will brief the regatta fleet sailors on  the format for the day, immediately after the main competitor briefing on Saturday.
