The outcome of the 49er class had already followed the pre-event script to the letter. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke had already won the title with a day to spare. But the major championships hosted at Kieler Woch were nowhere near as cut and dried.

Kieler Woche Favors a Mediterranean Flavor
Kieler Woche shrugged off its reputation for chilly Baltic temperatures and turned on Mediterranean temperatures and much more settled breezes. Clearly the warmth and decent breezes suit the Spanish girls Silvia Mas and Paula Barcelo who lead the Women’s fleet at the 470 Junior World Championships by five points. In the Men’s championship the German duo Malte Winkl and Matti Cipra still lead but the Italians Giacomo Ferrari and Giuilio Calabro were unstoppable today winning both of their races.

Golden Dutch medal haul as the 2016 Delta Lloyd Regatta draws to a close
A week that started with a cold northerly blast ended in sublime conditions at the 2016 Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik. Of the six Olympic classes present, the Dutch sailors took gold in three of them as they begin final preparations for the Rio Olympics. In the other fleets, Poland, Spain and Italy took the golds in a final day that delivered great conditions, great weather and tense competition.
