In what has been an incredibly rough and tough start of season for the competitors at Boscombe and Westgate Bay this year, the punishing surf of Fistral Beach is set to test resolve again this weekend for the fifth and sixth rounds of the RYA ThunderCat British Championship.

Returning to the title challenge is Bligh Julius, the 2014 RYA P750 ThunderCat British Champion, who missed the last 2 rounds held in Cornwall due to a work commitment, "I'm 28 points behind James Tapp, so I really have my work cut out to claw back the deficit," said the ultra competitive racer from Lymington.

As for Tapp, the current points leader, he will be handed an extra boost for his title tilt, The Headland Hotel & Spa will join Microlink and Ahmad Tea as his race partners for this event. The father of two and 3 time RYA British Champion said, "I am really looking forward to the surf, the 20 boat competition and hopefully receiving podium laurels from a representative of The Headland after the races on the Saturday and Sunday evenings."

Both the former champions are well aware of Simon Harding, who is starting to put together a 2015 title challenge together of his own. The Welshman currently stands second in the championship and impressed at Watergate Bay earlier this month.

Racing takes place at Fistral Beach, Newquay this Saturday and Sunday between 11.30 and 16.00, 30th - 31st May

Spectators can watch from Fistral Beach or the Terrace at The Headland Hotel.
